Indeed, who would think of hiring Mark Twain or Stephen Crane? Absurd. Pandering to masses.

First, some very good news for my readers: I’m not gonna be posting here anymore! Not in the foreseeable future. Way too busy, but working on some exciting stuff. Announcements coming in a month or so (for the three of you who come to this blog and five of you who follow me on Twitter).

Which means I better make this post good. Less (…) Continue reading.

UPDATE: NOW WITH AUDIO “You couldn’t have dragged me to see THE THIN BLUE LINE if my life depended on it”

It’s time you start being a performer and understand the media – Harvey Weinstein, 1988

Miran has asked me some time ago if I would like to contribute to his blog. What a brilliant idea, I thought. But easier said than done. I was afraid that whatever I came up with for the blog was going to bore the hell out of everybody. And thankfully, Miran confirmed this suspicion. Until now. I bring (…) Continue reading.

Fwd: Digital Journalism: Project Proposal

A friend of mine, Drake Martinet, came up with a magnificent idea for a project, for our Digital Journalism (Comm 217) taught by Howard Rheingold.

In college, I started a weekly newspaper called The Harvard Voice, together with Steven Duque (he just finished touring the country with his band, Big Time). (…) Continue reading.

Pop & Porn

Welcome to my Johnny The Rocket blog! (If you have absolutely no idea who or what JTR is, no worries. I just thought it sounded good.)

We’ll be covering a number of topics: pop culture phenomena, obituaries of the dying newspapers, developments of new media. Here, though, I have to warn you: my views on the whole ‘the newspaper is dead’ hysteria are perhaps a bit unorthodox. Firstly, I don’t buy it at all. The paper (…) Continue reading.
